Alien drivers

Anyone else see CSI last night? It was rubbish, possibly for the first time, with a totally unbelievable alien storyline. That is not to say I usually believe their unbelievable storylines - it's just that this one was like, "purlease!"

However, my dog is definitely an alien:

Many thanks for the comments on motorway driving - is there anyone out there who didn't jump on a motorway as soon as they'd passed their test, or drive hell for leather around scary spaghetti junctions?! I am impressed. But I don't like driving fast, and have absolutely zero desire to whiz down a motorway. Lucky I work from home, innit?!

Am I normal?! (I don't mind if not; would just like to know!)

Just go whenever you are ready but the sooner the better really thats all I can say :)

LOL r.e. Harry (no did not watch CSI - watched Slither which is abs RUBBISH! Advise not to watch!)

The motorway isn't as scary as it seems. Its straight. There's no traffic lights. There's no cars coming the other way in your bit. There's no roadworks. There's no roundabouts. There's no junctions that you need to pull out of. There's no distracting people on feet that could step out in front of you. There's no parked cars that you need to avoid hitting. There's no advertising, and other things that scream Look At Me.

In fact, its boring. M6 super hairy fast? Did you just forget about the traffic jams, that make this physically impossible?

Tip for driving in the countryside when following directions.... If you think.. uh ummm I've been driving for about 5 mins and haven't found the next turning or landmark... maybe I should turn back and check I haven't missed it .. DON'T !! Cos you haven't ... just drive for another 10 miles and there you shall spot said landmark/turning !! lol !! Took me wasted miles and hours of driving back and forth up the same road ... progessing a little bit further along it each time to figure the blasted countryside out !!! Comes from being a city girl !! Heh !! x

You need to remember one thing - the motorway is the safest road in UK.

You are least likely to have an accident on a motorway compared to all other roads.

So why avoid it. Like Alison said, it's dull actually - it's straight mostly, one way traffic, no parked cars...

In fact the most danger you have facing you are basically lane hogs (people that doesn't keep to the left when the road is clear but stay in their lane, forcing people to undertake (overtaking you on the wrong side).

The only "scary" bit for a first-timer might be that you have to keep moving all the time - no stopping for a breather :)

Wait! I lie! You can park on a motorway...you can do it on Europe's Biggest Carpark. Rest of world call it the M25.

My first experience of a motorway was on a French one! I'd passed my test then went traipsing round France for 3 weeks in an English car!

It was easy :-) (even though we drove on the right hand side!)
