So, it's a new year.

Apologies for the lack of blogging lately are due to those of you who actually like reading this blog. As well as spending xmas in the middle of nowhere, I've had various mysterious technical problems, which annoyingly means I may disappear offline again at any moment, and I often get cut off mid-blog... but all is well in Camp J, I assure you.

So here we are with a brand new year. New things of note include a new sense of peace inside my head after the xmas break (enjoy it while it lasts), a new series of Celebrity Big Brother, which starts tonight, and a new contraption in our living room which I am told is a Sky Digibox... no, a Freeview Box. Whatever!

I do do the Internet, and tech related things that involve computers, but I am useless with TVs really - it's worth pointing out that I don't actually watch much of Big Brother - why bother with that when you can read the silliest, bitchiest forums in the world instead?! - despite embarrassingly having a degree in media.

Anyway, Ce very kindly gave us the aforementioned Box for xmas, which has changed our lives forever. Now that we have 10,000 more channels, Ce was worried the choice would stress me out, but I have managed to get around this problem by pretending we still 'only' have 5 channels, and leaving any choices involving Other Things to C, who is completely beside herself with excitement.

This lunchtime, for example, C went a funny shade of pink and screamed “ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh” when she realised a new series of ER would be on E4 starting from tomorrow. She sulked for a bit when I reminded her she was going out tomorrow night, but perked up when she remembered we do have a video. After that, she wondered what we would be doing tonight, noting the new series of CBB *and* Desperate Housewives are both on, but getting all annoyed when she found out she’d miss Torchwood in the process. “Oh, I can watch it on E4 or BBC3 instead! That’s my life over now!” She said.

Indeed. At least it means I’ll get a bit of peace now though… thanks again, Ce!

:) Am glad that I have given you both a useful Christmas present!!

Would have had to get one eventually ready for the Digital switchover (though it is not for another few years?)

You will have to let me know how you will record it via video as I seem to have problems inputting the programmes from freeview onto my video (Channels 1 - 5 are fine).

If you manage to do that, please do let me know, or if anyone else knows!

Enjoy!

Ce xx

I think you need to get scart lead(s) (if not already using) from freeview to VCR to tv. Also freeview channels would be via A/O channel on VCR. Hard to explain in words, if I lived nearby Id set it up for you! Ive connected my Sky+ box to the dvd recorder, vcr and tv using scart leads. Sad! By the way welcome back Jen, missed your blogs!

I thank you for your kind words and useful advice, K! Glad you like my blogs - at least someone does - and got fingers crossed for ER to *hopefully* be recording right now. I don't mind if it doesn't, but C would be so heartbroken, bless her wee cottons. xx

If it does not record, ER will be repeated at least 4 times on E4 throughout the week, so won't be a problem!

Did it record?!

Ce xx

No it bloody didn't record. I've got an hour of snow and white noise, though I am cheered to know it will be repeated.

Attempts to add more cable to the back of our set up, in order to record, will be duly reported back on - thanks for the tip, Kathy!

Kathy, PLEASE MOVE UP NORTH! You'd do a roaring trade in setting up freeview sets to VCRs!!

*all on our knees*
