Any idea...

... what's wrong with my monitor?!

monitor.jpg

When I switched it on this morning, I saw a kind of pink 'leak' inside. Weirdly, the leak is getting smaller, not bigger. That's confusing.

Would be grateful if any geeks who read this could drop any of their diagnosis/ideas/advice into the comment box, please?!

I reckon its plasma (not a geek FYI!) but Jen mentioned that it was getting smaller - is it? Any chance of taking the monitor back?

C xx

It's kind of the same now but there's a bit at the bottom too... I guess I'll just wait for it to get worse and then buy a new one - easier that way!?

do you have a cold? looks like you might have sneezed on it......
Is it a TFT otr CRT monitor? Don't TFT have a bit of a reputaton for 'breaking down'? Not a geek either but I've seen a nice anorak in M&S

Is it blackcurrant juice or an alcopop that you've spilt and forgotten about?

Haha, funny people(!)

No, I don't do alcopops, and yes it is a TFT screen - I'll probably buy an even cheaper one in the end!

Is the TFT part of a laptop? Or a separate TFT flat panel display?

How old is it? Who made it? You'll be surprised by how long some warranty can last for.

In my case, my 2 years old CRT 17" monitor went on the blink. I have no receipt or anything else for it.

I noticed iiyama does 3 years warranty on all their goods so I dropped them an email asking if it was possible to have mine under their warranty considering I have no reciept, original packaging etc.

Few weeks later I have a brand new top of the line 22" behmonth that is putting a stain on my desk (it's bending under the weight...hmm perhaps I should have asked for a nice TFT instead...oh well)

Ooh there's an idea, thanks Joe. It's a separate panel, and not THAT old. Not old enough to be falling apart anyway! I may investigate getting a free one...

Cheers! ;o) xx
