The bizarreness of life

As you probably didn't know, Jane Horrocks is coming to Preston soon, and I want a ticket. The wonderful Ms H is being BSL interpreted by my fave interpreter, and it's probably the most exciting thing to happen in Preston for a while, as nothing much ever happens here anyway.

Anyway! I went along to uni to buy a ticket today, completely forgetting about the strike (I didn't see the relevance anyway). I got to reception, where there was a woman wearing one of those headpieces receptionists wear so that they can answer the phone without having to move or anything.

Me: Hi, can I buy some tickets to see Jane Horrocks?

Woman with headpiece: Er, just a minute. *Talks to man* ... I'm sorry but I can't sell you one, we're on strike.

Me: You've sold out?

Woman: No, we're on strike. You'll have to come back tomorrow.

Me: Oh, I see, you're on strike! *Confused* But you're here?!

Woman: Yes, well someone needs to answer the phones.

Me: Oh, so you're kind of pretending you're not here, then?

*Woman glares at me*

Me: Er, I'll come back tomorrow!

... fair enough! I wonder what Ms Horrocks would think?!

My boss once asked me many years ago 'how does Jane Horrocks manage to wet herself every night in Macbeth at the Theatre Royal?' Two things here which it occurs to me could be addressed through this fabby blog:
1. Can you ask her when you see her please?
and
2. Why did my boss think I would know?

OPD, avoiding work at all costs

1. OK, I'll ask them to ask!

2. Cos you know most things, including the fact that carrots can be black and purple, not only orange!?

Well, don't forget to take a brolly with you Jen! xx

Oh, I wish I had been there to see that woman glaring at you. You had an excellent point there Doddsy, how the hell were you to expect a service while the whole world was on strike. Did she have a "Computer Says No" badge?! xx

No but she was scarier than you are!

I have emailed to ask the question for OPD (making it clear it was *not* me who is asking!) and will let you know what happens!!

Oh tee hee the thangs you do for me gal - it won't be forgotten:)
